Using the power point interpretation is more often fixed to a place, so it will fall under the “Point Duty” form of interpretation. Point Duty form of interpretation is where an interpretation is usually delivered from a fixed location such as an entrance to an attraction or before a guided tour etc. The audience to a tourist site would first assemble at a central point and then would be instructed to their planned activities. Potential tourists or visitors to a place could be enticed to sign up by presentation of information etc.
In the technique of using PowerPoint presentations with Point Duty form, the narrator must first do much research into the best way to present. They must research into the type of audience, the time of presentation, the exact location where the presentation is to be given, the form of motivations to be included and the form of reactions expected from the audience. In this interpretive technique, the presenter has the option of choosing different media elements.
The media to be used here are of many forms. Computer or a laptop is the most basic one of what is needed here. Usually a laptop works better as it could be moved more conveniently with all the sources linking back to the presentation. A projector will be needed for handling the slide show. Visual forms can be added to the presentation. The visual forms evoke better interest in the person who is watching the presentation. Text is the most basic form used in the presentation.
However, text used in the presentation must be specific and pinpoint things rather than being written in paragraphs. Usually, a verbal interpretation will go with the presentation. The verbal interpretation will be a much longer brief that draws up each of the individual pointers that are in the presentation.
In addition to these elements, printed documents could be used as a media. Slides of the presentation could be taken as printouts and can be distributed beforehand to the audience. This will help audience follow the presentation better and hence makes the interpretation more efficient.
