Every organisation need to adopt few strategies after proper analysis and evaluation so as to apply these strategies for the purpose of improving the performance of the organisation. Alibaba is a successful company operating at international level and there are various reasons behind its success. The reason behind the success is the adaptation of the effective strategies which have helped Alibaba to deal with the factors present in its micro and macro environment (Xie, et al., 2008).Alibaba is facing few problems due to which its performance and effectiveness is getting affected and these problems or issues include lack of the adequate attention given to the large scale enterprises market, lack of information regarding the improvement of management model and the problem related to the security of the information as the development in the technology can adversely affect Alibaba. For this purpose Alibaba has adopted strategies and these strategies include:
Pricing strategy: it is important for every business to determine the price of the products or services offered by it. Alibaba is offering wide range of products or services to its customers and has decided its pricing policy by considering the different aspects such as the cost of the products or services, level of competition, pricing policies of the competitors, discounts and the demand of the customers for the products or services (Ghandour, et al., 2010).
Marketing strategy: marketing refers to the promotion of the products or services in the market so as to increase in the sales by making people aware of the products or services offered by the company. Alibaba has adopted marketing strategy and considering the four P’s which have contributed towards the success of the organisation.
Product and service strategy: Alibaba is offering various products in an effective manner. For offering these products it is offering various services and these services include safety and security of the information, online payment, protection and authentication, instant messaging, after sale services and listing solutions. Alibaba is offering security of the data for protecting the confidential data of the users (Alibaba shifts talent strategy, 2015).
Promotion strategy: promotional strategies are used so as to advertise the products and services offered by the organisation. Alibaba has used social media marketing for promoting its products and services. It has also sponsored the events for promoting its products or services. These strategies help in reducing the cost and enhancing the performance of the organisation by increasing effectiveness.
Distribution strategy: distribution is an important aspect. Alibaba has used internet as a mediator as internet is a medium which is capable of reaching large number of people in the minimal time and with minimum cost. It is also having its outlets in different countries for distribution of the products (Jung, et al., 2015).
Internationalisation strategy: internationalisation or globalisation is one of the most effective strategies which help an organisation to expand the area of operation and enhancing the customer base of the organisation by promoting the products or services in the other countries.
Investment strategy: Alibaba has used the funds or the financial resources available with it in investing which has helped it in the expansion of the area of operation of the business. Investment decision is a huge decision which needs to be taken after considering the different aspects of the environment which can affect the investment decision (Barczyk, et al.,2011).
