The findings are important for this study as they establish that mediation undertaken in the media texts such as the technical codes for realism entailing handheld camera, surrounding sound and real time provides with the symbolic realism (Sexton, 2015). The combination of the realism elements involved in the development of the media text to make it real for the audience makes it present only part of reality. The involvement of heavy editing and removing certain part of reality manipulates the overall reality and makes these three media texts inefficient to reflect reality.It can be concluded from the above discussion that the three media texts, documentaries, reality TV shows and news report, do not provide direct reflection of reality since only the real elements are involved in order to provide with the surface, inner and symbolic realism instead of offering the actual reality (Barton, 2017). Hence, the direct nature of the reality representation gets lost within the process of mediation.
