Thank you for posting this Journal. The article has covered a lot of dimensions and has lot of depth which are worth thinking about. After I read the article, I came to know about the responsibilities a company has in terms of security of the employees that are working in their campus. The company has the responsibility to monitor the safety and security base regulations within the premises. If any damage happens either to the company’s property or to any employee’s health within the company’s premises, the company should be solely responsible for that. Moreover, the company should pay for any damage that happens to the victim’s family and should also bear the losses for the same.
In the article, several facts have been enlightened about the fire related case that happened at a company. As an employee, Mr. Hines was responsible for the outbreak of fire. However, was the fire started purposefully by Mr. Hines? Whether the accident took place in the company’s premises and within the working hours? Whether the purpose of hiring of the employees had any connection? These questions second the dismissal of the case.
The accident took place within the company’s premises and within the working hours. In addition, Mr. Hines is an employee of the company and not an independent contractor. Based on this, the company should take the responsibility of the accident that took place and should bear the losses. The company has resources which can help it to rebuild everything. Mr. Hines should not be liable for the same and should be given his claim amount.
