There are different types of collection of the objects by Sir John Soane. The nature of the selection of the objects based on the following aspects: -Antiquities, Medieval & Non – western objects: – There was the collection of oil paintings and more than 500 antiquities were collected by Sir John Soane. Like we can take the example of the Alabaster Sarcophagus of Seti.Sculptures: – He also collected many sculptures which craved with white marble which are still present in the museum (Bradbury, 2015). There are certain examples of the types of sculptures which are present in the architectural museum like Soane additionally gained Sir Richard Westmacott’s mortar model for Nymph unclasping her Zone, showed at the back of the break in the Picture Room. Different acquisitions include: the mortar model of John Flaxman’s remembrance figure of William Pitt the Younger, the model of Thomas Banks’ landmark to Penelope Boothby.Drawings and paintings: – one of the natures of collection of Soane is the collection of the drawings and paintings.
The paintings which are include in the museum are : – Soane’s compositions include: works by Canaletto entitled View of the Riva degliSchiavoni painted (1736) acquired in 1806 from William Thomas Beckford for 150 Guineas in addition to three different works by the artist, and sketches by Hogarth. The eight canvases of the A Rake’s Progress, obtained from the accumulation of William Thomas Beckford, at closeout for 570 Guineas in 1801. The other Hogarth artworks Soane acquired were the four canvases of the Humours of an Election purchased at closeout at Christie’s from David Garrick’s dowager for £1,732, 10s in June 1823.Architectural drawings and models:- Soane has collected more than 30000 architectural drawings for his museum. There are drawings which Soane had its own designs, out of all of them the most notable is the Joseph gandy which is also shown in the image
