In this story line, the bureaucrat, Theo Faron becomes the main protagonist of the story line and an unlikely champion for the survival of the world. In this premise, the infertility is the main issue that the people face. Theo protects a pregnant women and saves her while facing his own demons and ensures that the world has hope. Science fiction stories are based on the paradigm of incredulous solution. One of the most difficult aspect of the science fiction story is to convince the premise of the incredulous situation to the audience who views the story line. This convincing requires efforts by the film makers to create special effects to meet the needs of the audience. For the audience engagement, there is the use of the special effects that the people try to draw in and create an engrossing atmosphere for the audience.
Neale states that “Despite this awareness, the special effects have had an effect.
The spectator has been, like the fictional character, astonished and horrified. An effect of this kind is fundamental to science fiction in the cinema. So too, though, is the awareness” (Neale 161).In this analysis, the Richard Hodgens article about science fiction has been used. The particular statement that Hogens make is “Unfortunately, science fiction films have associated science, the future, the different, and the unknown with nothing but irrational fear” (39).It has been perceived from analysis that this notion has been explored in the story line of Children of Men. Hodgens has used the article to explain the nuances of Science fiction. This was a relatively newer genre of movies in the 1950s. There is reference of the stories such as Rocky, When Worlds collide to name a few. It seems that Hodgen’s has tried to explore the genre and state that there are ridiculous premises that are set in the story line to explore the real issues facing people.
