Hotel Holiday Inn is a subsidiary of the Inter-Continental Hotels Group (IHG). It is a multinational brand and was originally a US Motel Chain. It has a capacity of occupying guests in 435,299 bedrooms in their 3,463 hotels established globally. The Holiday Inn is majorly basically based in three cities i.e. Atlanta, London and Rio de Janerio. It was founded on 1st August in 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, US by Mr. Kemmons Wilson. The idea of Hotel Holiday Inn emerged in the mind of Kemmons Wilson when he was returning back from a family road trip to Washington DC. He was quite disappointed by the kind of services and quality of food provided to the travellers by the various roadside motels during that time. The name “Holiday Inn” was given as a joke by the architect Eddie Bluestein to the original hotel of Wilson and this was in reference to the movie “Bing Crosby”. It was in 1957 that Wilson established the hotel chain as the Hotel Holiday Inn of America. Since then the hotel chain grew dramatically and it also followed the initial standards set by Wilson for various properties i.e. all of them must be clean, family-friendly, accessible, and predictable and clean for travellers.
