The historical Chinese documents record different sorts of music and music were there in early civilizations of China. The evidence of a well developed musical structure is there even before the Zhou Dynasty. A rich musical culture was presented by successive dynasties after Zhou Dynasty and that is the reason that music has became an integral part of the Chinese culture and landscape. More contemporary forms of Chinese music have also emerged later on. Different classification of music is made by Chinese philosophers and these philosophers consider that a correct and refined form of music is very necessary for the refinement of individual personality. In addition to this Confucian system considers that “yayue” is a form of music that helps in character building and there are few forms of music that are contributing to decrease the level of morality among Chinese Society.

In any industry there is a tendency to follow unethical practices and illegal activities of those can result in relatively higher level of profitability and revenues for the producer (Lee, 1995). The case of Pop music is also similar to that because the pop stars in China are willing to adopt anything that can result in the increased revenues. Doing so, they often compromise the protection of Chinese culture and Chinese values and remained merely focused to earn revenues. Many such instances have been observed when individuals or responsible authorities in music industry follow such tactics that are directly in conflict of the moral values prevailing in China. The major reason behind this is that such tactics and trends are expected to generate additional revenues for them and they find it to be a very opportunity to capture the attention of music lover. Anything that is unique remains able to attract the attention of music lovers and that is the reason that sometime immoral factors and those having direct conflict with moral values of the society, captures attention of public and become popular (Moskowitz, 2010).
