One of the most popular theories related to motivation of the employees is the ‘Expectancy theory of motivation’. It is the theory which emphasized on the relations between the expectancy and their fulfillment. Suggested by Vroom, this theory states the basic difference between the expectancies, performances and the outcomes. The theory realizes that the performance of the employee is based on the number of factors such as personality, skills, knowledge, experiences and the abilities. It states that the performance of the person is linked with the person’s motivation. Also the same can be very well applicable to the situations where the employees works in the organization and they expect a favorable outcome in the form of meeting of their personal requirements.This theory is also beneficial for the organizations as it helps them as it assists them to relate the rewards provided to the employees directly to the performance of the employees.
