It was found that Mediterranean countries receive more than 30% of world tourists’ arrival in single year. The Mediterranean coasts have faced the massive pressure during the last decade and it is mainly located in the northern part of this region. In the Mediterranean coastal areas tourism is based on the model of development and growth. The impact of the tourism in this region has been started with the rapid arise in the construction like hotels, marinas, transport and waste treatment facilities and developing the recreational facilities such as golf courses, water sports, thematic parks, beach access and parking. It has seen that environmental issues in this region are somewhat different from the other economic areas. Here degradation of environmental will result in the degradation of industry itself as tourism is truly based on the beauty of environment and natural climate. Increase in the construction of various tourism and recreational facilities has increased the pressure on the natural resources of the Mediterranean region (Davenport & Davenport, 2006). There are both direct and indirect impact on natural resources is caused by the use of land for accommodation and for developing the other infrastructure facilities. These facilities are kind of renewable and non-renewable in nature. The wetlands near the sea are drained and filled that lacks of more suitable sites for construction purpose and other recreational facilities. The construction activities at the coast of Mediterranean region have caused the severe damage and erosion of the local ecosystem and it has been long term impact (Davenport, John, & Davenport, Julia L, 2006).
