The politics during Cold war lead to the erection of the Berlin Wall. It is now considered to be a policy that pointed towards the oppression in the cities. Modern day Berlin is more attuned towards capitalistic ideologies and the people are found to be westernized. The city of Berlin has become more cosmopolitan when compared to the previous decades and there be more open attitude of the people. Individual liberties are given precedent and people do not like to be taught or preached about any ideology. Politically people did not like talking about religion.
It was observed that when the street arts was covered with graffiti the value of the place. The areas surrounding the Berlin wall is not known for its affluence. But it is known and has been celebrated for its vivacious culture, anti-authoritarianism ideology that has been pervading the cities and also reflects the difficult paths of the European history. The tumultuous history of the place seems to be gaining the avid interest of the tourist. It is considered to be up and to come cooler cities with an interesting history. Like the street artists the current gentrification process seems to be processed. There is a high level of gentrifications that has been found near the areas and this had subsequently leaded to more number of tourists visiting the areas. The original charm and ideologies of the place has been replaced with commercialized hip hop culture.
When having a qualitative interview with one of the young participants, it was found that the conventional ideologies and discriminating the people based on the economic status was not done in the societies. The participant however had problems with the religious notions pervading the cities. There was mention of how some religious affiliations try to promote their ideology in the streets of Berlin and this was not welcome by the participant. It was found that in the modern day Berlin there was a rise in the different religions ideologies. People had become more sensitive to the religious ideologies and did not like to discuss their individual preference of religion.
Gentrification and the political agenda of the people have taken a whole new meaning near the Berlin wall. The cities are now more commercialized and the once popular notions of equality have become a selling point for the cities. In the current system, the people are more capitalistic and value individual freedom, but they do not want to discuss about religions. This was evident from the interview and from the observation made about the communities.
