The book review for this assignment will be based on the book “The idealist” written by Nina Munk. This book summarizes about Jeffery Sach’s ambitious quest that is related to the global poverty. Author has used the theme of Jeffery Sach and discussed about the project in Ghanna. According to Jeffery poverty is not a problem that comes with zero solution; poverty can be resolved by the correct policies taken by the government of the countries. Jeffery Sach developed a project name as Millennium village in Africa. This project is a five years experimental project that tests the theories in the selected region. Regions and villages were selected for the project and the first village was in Suri that is a remote cluster of the villagers who were farmers and living in Kenya. The results of this test were encouraging and they went to carry on this success for the future. For this project the donors like George Soros had given one hundred twenty million dollar for this initiative. After spending this money and getting successful results it was analyzed that dozens of model village will be developed in the sub Saharan counties so the issue of poverty can be resolved. When this approach was validated the idea was to spread this theme and project on the rest of the continent. Nina Munk was accompanying Sach on his trips to Africa and was closely administering the project. She was able to listen to the conversations with head of the states, rival economist, humanitarians, developmental experts and other social organizations.
