媒体是任何国家最重要的资源之一。它是人们了解信息的媒介。但是很多时候，媒体不得不面对很多问题。这可能是由于人民、政府或任何其他机构的不断干预。近年来，澳大利亚媒体出现了一些问题。这些问题是由于2007年媒体所有权规则的变化而引起的。2007年，澳大利亚在媒体所有权方面做了一些改变。其中一项改变是废除了“75% reach”规定，该规定允许任何一家特定公司控制的许可区域不得超过澳大利亚人口的75%。

Media is one of the most important resources for any nation. It is a medium through which the people get to know information. But many a times, the media has to face a number of issues. These may be due to the constant intervention of the people, government or any other bodies. In the recent times, there have been a number of issues in Australian media. These issues have been as a result of change in the media ownership rules in 2007 has been discussed in the report.A number of changes were implemented in Australia in 2007 with respect to media ownership. One of the changes was to chop the “75 % reach” rule which permitted the license areas which were controlled by any one specific company can’t exceed more than 75 % of the Australia’s population.

Another change was the abandonment of the “Two out of three” rule. This rule abandoned the companies to control more than three media platforms. Another change was made to introduce the self-regulation model and to make sure that the companies followed the regulations.As per the new regulation after the year 2007, the government allowed foreign ownership of media in Australia. In addition to this, after this there was a greater amount of cross cultural ownership in Australia which further led to the reduction in the diversity of the media in Australia. Because of the laws, Fairfax was able to buy the Rural Press which helped in bring 9 additional news papers and seven commercial radio licenses under the control of Fairfax itself.
